The gear pipeline (upgrade and enhancement chain)

Every upgrade is a job for someone.

The rules

In order; each step is a player service: 1. Craft (Crafting): rarity, High Quality (HQ), Maker's Mark, Material Quality ceiling. 2. Upgrade +0 → +20 (Ink, basics, gold; pity): the deep grind (§2.8). 3. Quality Upgrade (Smithing, quality 0–100): reroll the base stat's position in its range; costs quality-rated materials; player-run. 4. Reroll (Runecraft/Jewelcraft): reroll one affix family's roll within budget; pity after 5. 5. Socket (Smithing/Jewelcraft) and Rune (Runecraft): Lines. 6. Enchant (Inking): one Ink-affix from the floor's palette; the item's name gains an epithet ("Ironbark Axe of the Weir"). 7. Bind (Runecraft): PvP insurance; costs a keystone each week to maintain (an upkeep sink that is a market). 8. Strike (only the world): an Erratum encounter can Strike an item; chaotic, unbindable, sometimes better. 9. Lineage: every step recorded with the hand that did it.
