The rules

  1. Lines (story): one per floor from the spine, authored through the Loom; the floor's meaning.
  2. Arcs: recurring NPC stories across floors (H-3).
  3. Dailies (dailies): three per Vesper (one gather, one fight, one social), rewarding Ink and labor; never a penalty for missing; never more than 20 minutes.
  4. Timed Events (time-limited): at Vesper the Quill posts world tasks for a day (a Front to hold, a Toll to fill, a Named to find); completing them shifts the Ledger's next issue.
  5. Trials (week windows) and week Vespers (weekly): raid lockouts, guild wars, Trials.
  6. Monthly Reading (monthly): the Quill re-reads a stratum: Drafts surface on those floors for three days, Drafted items appear, one hidden zone opens.
  7. Contracts and Hunts (player-written): the quest board is the market.
  8. Clues (OSRS clue scrolls): a Clue drops rarely from anything; it is a riddle in the Quill's register pointing to a place, an NPC, a Line; Cartography and Lore help; rewards are cosmetics and Achievements.
  9. Hidden quests: triggered by patterns (hold the rope for Hesk at dusk three times; bring a Draft a Latin Note); never listed; two discovery paths (SYS-08 rule).
  10. Marginalia (personal, super-rare): the Quill writes to one person (bible §7); includes Your Draft and Rank IV Names.
  11. Every quest uses the closed grammar (shape, stake, consequence, step library).
